The EAP’ closing ceremony was conducted on 28th of December 2015. The ceremony was attended by:
– 110 young males and females of the program participants.
– 40 people of the program activities.
– 50 guests and public figures.
At the beginning of the ceremony Raifa Kanj an EAP’ participant read a common pray for Peace in Lebanon where she highlighted on the common denominators that unite the Lebanese which they have to defend.
Mariam Ajaj and Nourhane Deeb Omar read the EAP’ participants word that describe all the stages of the program from the training passing by the experimental training in schools till the fifteen local community initiatives with all the challenges and success stories. They expressed their thanks and gratitude to every one participated in making EAP a success not to forget ifa as funder and WAY as implementer. They also talked about the participants’ future vision and plan where they asked for a second phase of the program with new areas and new youth in more elaborated activities.
EAP’ Participants intended to make their closing ceremony a public event where they took the opportunity to honoring Lebanese public figures for their participation in preserving civil peace in Lebanon and reconstructing confidence between Lebanese. This Honoring had two purposes:
– To highlight the achievements and work of Lebanese public figures so everyone could take an example and start efforts to build peace.
– To encourage Lebanese youth in being involved in public affairs and becoming agents of change.
The 11 public figures are as follows:
1- Cheikh Nasser Saleh Head of Islamic Makarem Organization.
2- Father Ibrahim Sarrouj Tripoli Greek Orthodox Pastor.
3- Mr. Chafic Haidar Orthodox Youth Movement.
4- The Late Dr. Mona Haddad Head of Jinan University.
5- Mr. Assaad Chaftari Fighters for Peace.
6- Mr. Fadi Abi Allam Permanent Peace Movement.
7- Ms. Elsy Wakil Secretary general of Christian Youth Alliance.
8 -Mr. Ahmad Sankari Beirut Arab University Alumni.
9- Mr. Malek Mroueh Daily Star Journal
10-Mr. Mooness Abdel Wahab founder of Forum of The Handicapped.
11-Mr. Mohamad Dib House of Literature, Sciences and Development.
Those public figures represented the Lebanese diversity which is a richness that Lebanese have to rely on.
This ceremony was indeed a public event that took a great consideration in the local communities and the media.
The closing ceremony highlighted the project achievements and successes as well. Participants had an opportunity to witness the efficiency of the project and how its objectives were achieved.
After presenting the implemented initiatives and the honoring event, participant youth were valued by the attendees for their great contribution in the developing relationships between different group of people from different ethnic groups and different sects. In addition to fostering a method of peace building and conflict resolution within their communities.
After that eleven EAP’ participants did introduce everyone from the honored public figures where each one of them did thank the participants with a small speech full of hope in the Youth future.
At the end every one of the attendees was invited to share a common lunch.
